REFLECTION

One big takeaway from going to school at FIU is definitely the global perspective, awareness and engagement attained through the number of courses, programs, and events offered. I remember my first global learning and honors course about Diplomacy while I was an Accounting major. This class was different from my regular business-oriented curriculum and it challenged me to become more aware about other important thing happening in the world. In this class we would brainstorming solutions and participated in simulations about real world diplomatic issues.
In all of my global learning and honors courses there was a great environment cultivated by the professors to allow students to have a safe space to share their perspectives and learn from each other. One program that has also contributed to my growth is Start-up FIU in which entrepreneurial students seek to create solutions to existing world problems and are mentored in order to execute them. It was through these courses and programs that I felt inspired and empowered to pursue social problems that need solving along with my professional career. Global learning at FIU has made me a more well-rounded and socially conscious individual.
